How it works
What you keep after electricity.
When you rent out a GPU on Vast, RunPod, TensorDock, Clore, or Salad, the list (or earn) $/hr is only half the story. Electricity and platform fees eat into that number — sometimes enough that you’re losing money while the card looks “busy.” PerkWh subtracts those costs so you can decide to list, idle, or switch with a clear take-home $/hr.

We subtract a keep estimate after platform fees where it applies (~85% Vast, ~93% RunPod, ~75% TensorDock, ~95% Clore CLORE; Salad keep 100% of earn) — edit those if you know your cut.

Questions hosts actually ask
How do you pronounce PerkWh?
Per K-W-H — like cents per kilowatt-hour. Not a crypto ticker.
Will this rent out my GPU for me?
No. We’re not Vast, RunPod, or another marketplace. We don’t auto-list, auto-bid, or touch your machines. You stay in control of the listing.
What is host-net?
Host-net is your take-home $/hr while rented: list price × what you keep after the platform’s fee, minus electricity. In math: list × keep − (watts/1000 × $/kWh). Not a guaranteed payout — just the hourly edge at the numbers you paste.
Why bother if Vast already shows $/hr?
Because that number is before your electricity. The same list price can look fine at 12¢/kWh and lose money at 22¢. We put power cost next to list price so you see take-home $/hr.
What do I need to plug in?
Your electricity rate (¢/kWh), roughly how many watts the rig pulls when rented, and the $/hr you’d list on Vast and/or RunPod. Watt presets for 4090 / 5090 / 3090 are starting points — measure if you can.
What’s the “keep %”?
Rough cut after the platform’s fee (defaults ~85% on Vast, ~93% on RunPod Community). It’s an estimate you can edit. Your dashboard / payouts are the source of truth.
Do you promise I’ll make $X/day?
No. Occupancy (“utilization”), price wars, and downtime are real. We only answer: at these numbers, are you making or losing money per hour while rented — and should you list, idle, or switch platforms.

Free: one GPU, one flat electricity rate, five markets, list / idle / switch.
